Tips For Choosing a Professional Photographer For Your Wedding

By marke | Dec 15, 2009

You are ready to be married and now need to find somebody to capture the events of your special day. This can be a daunting task but if you follow some key steps it will not be too bad, you may even enjoy it.

You and your fiancé must first determine what you want from the photographer. Do you want digital or traditional prints? How many pictures do you want? How and when do you want them delivered to you?

You will want to choose a venue that will give you good opportunities for pictures. Choose a place that has good natural light and has a nice ambience to it.
You will want to do a search for local photographers. Make a list of ones that have excellent reviews. Search their portfolios for pictures that match up well with your venue.

Next you will want to contact some of the photographers for an initial meeting. You will explain exactly what you want and you will get a quote from them. Ask to see more of their portfolio, pictures that they do not advertise. Ask them how long it takes to get prints back. Get a feel for their personality. You should get along great with your photographer.

Go to more then one initial consultation. You may love the first photographer but shop around. Do not commit to the first one you really like. Always ask for a better price. Most photographers will budge a little on their prices.

Once you select the one you want to use, read and understand everything in the contract. You should not sign it unless everything is crystal clear.
